Description

Volunteers are always needed!  With one full-time Land Steward to care for 3,600 acres across 23 properties in two counties (and growing!), ParkLands relies on an army of volunteers that join workdays, lead nature walks, help with community outreach events, and contribute media (photography and newsletters).  Our volunteers also provide valuable accounting, appraisal, legal, and management services.

If you’re ready to make a lasting impact through local action, please tell us more about your interests and availability through our volunteer form and we will email you with available opportunities.

Plans for the Work Day:
+  We will be focusing on cutting/spraying honeysuckle and autumn olive along the trail leading from the parking lot to the Mackinaw River.
+  We will meet in the parking lot at 9:00 for initial instruction on cutting/spraying. We will work until about 11:00, returning to the parking lot by 11:30.
+  Tools will be provided. Come dressed to work in the woods. Please bring eye protection, work gloves, and a water bottle.
+  For those who have not been certified to spray herbicide with the Parklands Foundation, viewing the (attached) training link will allow you, if willing, to work in pairs to cut and spray invasives through the end of 2024.
+  If a couple of Parklands stewards could bring chainsaws, that would be great!
